Obituary for Bonnie Slates
Bonnie (nee Abbott) Slates, 92, of Eastlake, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020, at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born April 12, 1928, in Cleveland, she had lived in South Euclid before moving to Lake County 24 years ago.
Bonnie was a tremendous caregiver, extending help to her family and siblings. She volunteered as a Red Coat at the Cleveland Playhouse, loved gardening, and enjoyed cleaning.
She was the loving mother of Kathleen M. (Russell) Keichel and Lisa A. (Mark) Charles; cherished grandmother of Bill (Sundy) Keichel, Joseph (Shelly) Keichel, Nicholas Keichel, Justin Keichel (Tammy Ann Chrosniak), Colin (Jen, dec.) Keichel, Brogan Charles and Conrad Charles; great-grandmother of Emily, Will, Joe Jr. (Amanda), Aaron, Kaleb, Kadence, Nicholas and Marlee; great-great-grandmother of Branson; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, G. Howard Slates in 1991; parents, Wallace and Emma (nee Burden) Abbott; and siblings, Ruth V. (Rico, dec.) McKimmie, Gladys M. (Elton, dec.) Bard, Grace G. (Leroy, dec.) Cunningham, Charles F. (Jean, dec.) Abbott, Shirley M. (Chuck, dec.) Ledger, James W. (Marjorie, dec.) Abbott, Jean J. (Richard, dec.) Newman, and Alice L. (David, dec.) Slates.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, with a service to follow at 12 noon. Burial will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Mayfield Village.
