Obituary

Larry Joe Scribbick, 72, loving husband of Sharon; devoted son of the late Walter and Hazel (nee Nelson) Scribbick, passed into the waiting arms of his father and mother May 22, 2020, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland following complications of malignant melanoma. He fought hard and finished well. His family will be forever grateful to his doctors, surgeons and caregivers, who supported him at all times from diagnosis through treatment.
Larry was from Texas, and had been a resident of Lake County for 52 years.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon; aunts, Theresa (nee Nelson) (Royce, husband) Stewart of Texarkana, Texas, and Annette (nee Nelson) Brown of Rusk, Texas; sisters-in-law, Sherry (nee Longenecker) Lorincz, Pattie (nee Spring) Longenecker, Jeanine (nee Longenecker) (Scott, husband) Foltz, and Rosanne (nee Longenecker) (Greg, husband) Prokfop; brothers-in-law, Dan Lorincz and the late Bud (Wes) Longenecker; nieces and nephews, Rachel (nee Longenecker) and Mike Fier, Julie (nee Longenecker) and Rick Miller, Donna (nee Longenecker) (deceased) and Dave Gibney, Daniel (Longenecker) Lorincz, Brian and Kevin Longenecker. He was also the Godfather to Mary Sinead and Deidre Robertson, Daniel Lorincz and Jesse Stinson.
Larry was a founding member of St. John Vianney Parish. He taught PSR, was a Eucharistic Minister, performed with the Biblical Mime & Clowning Ministry, and was host to a small church community group. He was a founding member of and treasurer of the Lake County Mission Circle #1, established in 1983 by Rev. David Fallon and continued by Rev. Thomas Johns. He belonged to the Lake County Farmers Conservation Club and the Mentor Senior Center.
Larry was an employee of Pako Inc., until his retirement on April 13, 2020.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sleeping in late on Saturdays and special weekend breakfasts. Larry also enjoyed watercolor painting, calligraphy and illumination, playing the guitar, all kinds of music, reading the archeological history of the American Indian, photography, fishing, live theatre, orchestra, classic movies, and British mysteries.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2020, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor, OH 44060. Interment will follow in Mentor Cemetery.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Lake County Mission Circle #1, c/o St. John Vianney Church, at the address above, or any charity of your choice, as so many are in need at this difficult time.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
